a. Chem. [f. CROTON + -IC.] Of or derived from croton oil; as in crotonic acid, C4 H6 O2, the second member of the ACRYLIC series. So Crotonate, a salt of crotonic acid. Crotonol, a brown oil obtained from croton oil. Crotonyl, the radical C4 H7 of crotonic acid. Crotonylene, a hydro-carbon, C4 H6 (liquid below 15° C.), homologous with allylene.
