In F. couscou, in 18th c. cuzcuz, cousse-couche, couche-couche.] The grain of the African Millet, Holcus spicatus Linn., Penicillaria spicata Willd., a cereal indigenous to Africa, where it has constituted from the earliest times an important article of food.
