Lug sb.4 Also 7 lugg, 7, 9 log. [Cf. prec.; also LURG.] A large marine worm (Arenicola marina) which burrows in the sands of our coasts and is much used for bait. Also Comb., as lug-worm; lug-fork (see quot. 1883).

1 1602.  Carew, Cornwall, 34 b. The Lugg is a worme resembling the Tag-worme or Angle-touch, and lying in the ose somewhat deepe, from whence the women digge them vp, and sell them to the Fishermen.
