Tempest-tossed, -tost a. Tossed by or as by a tempest. Hence Tempest-toss v. trans. and intr., to toss or pitch about as a tempest or a tempestuous sea; to agitate or be agitated violently; Tempest-tossing, violent agitation by or as by a tempest, etc.
